BACKGROUND

Fraser Brown & Stratmore Ltd., was formed in 1951 by the two partners, importing Seelastic and other products from Expandite England. At the same time silicones and waterproofing coatings were imported from France.

By 1958 it became necessary to manufacture Expandite products and a factory was constructed in Wingate for Expandite products only.

The silicone and waterproofing materials developed until an independent factory was constructed in 1962 being managed by John Stratmore. Vinyl flooring, silicones, Aquella (waterproofing material), automotive adhesives, etc., were manufactured.

In 1964 the Expandite interest was sold out to Castrol who had bought the parent company in England.
Fraser Brown & Stratmore continued as a separate entity manufacturing epoxies, rubber lubricants, concrete additives, release agents, curing compounds, grouts, etc. During this time, we have supplied a number of large and often essential construction projects in Wellington and throughout New Zealand. In 1970, our first epoxy mortar was developed and sold into New Zealand, Australia and Asia.

In 1987, Fraser Brown & Stratmore had outgrown the original factory and moved to new premises in Rata Street, Naenae.

In June 1994, Hamish Stratmore joined the company as General Manager and Jeremy Mallender (B.Sc.) joined in September as Sales Manager.
